    Flywheel / stator charging question.

I need a new flywheel and it got me thinking about something.
Yamaha doesnt have a low amp flywheel like you Merc guys do. Its my understanding that the flywheel/stator is basically a generator. The generator uses power from the engine to create amperage. A lower amp system uses less power robbed from the engine.

My boat has almost no electronics. I have the engine, trim, and fuel pump.

If my flywheel had, for example, 12 magnets and I could remove 3 of them evenly to maintain balance, could I create a lower amp system?

I know brendan power changed magnets to increase output and actually ended up with too much output at the RPM they aimed for. Thats what I got out of it when I was there and he had a flywheel he wanted to try on a 40 amp system. He had a tool to measure the strength of the magnets also. Might be worth giving him a call

E-tecs also use a much different magnet and every other magnet has opposite polarity of the one next to it. THe little ones seem stronger then the old carb motors 10x their size.

Yea like I said I have no idea on how the magnets vs pickups effect things. Probably not as simple as I would like.....

Wouldn't it be a generator and a magneto? Seems you would need to know which magnets are used for ignition vs battery charging.

what about looking into a 50/70/90hp stator and flywheel?
