While I think this has a "wow" factor I just fear what is next when someone is thrown out and maimed or killed. In this litigious society we are in who knows what the out come will be. Not a "CC" hater by any means just think they are not the safest design platform for those kinds of speed. Sure these speeds were achieved with very experienced guys at the helm but that will not be the case in all purchases. Just because some of the ones that have the means to purchase them doesn't mean that they should.

Nortech is arguable one of the finest built boats in production. That boat was a race boat probably light and I thought it stuffed but cant remember. I do remember the pics of screws and they werent drywall screws but stainless steel screws used to hold parts together while they are bonded with glass. My Fountain has them as well.

Yes I agree with this for sure. im not saying i wouldn't want one at all. And i realize that yes there are people buying them for these larger craft. Yes they were made for them. The quad setup looks perfectly at home on that 39fter. I guess its just efficiency i always think about. At 700 lbs each and only 400 hp I think why not make a 400 hp motor at 400 lbs and do the same thing with 3? or make a 800 hp motor at the same weight and do 100 with 2. There making 2500hp motors from 2.5lt 4 cylinder these days that are under 300 lbs. So to me thats impressive. All the older motors also to me are impressive. 400hp motors at 340lbs that spin to 10000 rpm that merc used to make. Theres alot of S3000 motors that make 400hp that was a 90,s design. The new CRT billet block set to début in 2 days is proof of concept. Super light well over 300hp. Mate to a reduction and case to carry a heavy boat and you will have a much more efficient craft. Thats all i mean. I was super disappointed when the 400R came in at 700+lbs when you can buy a 300xs with only 50 hp less and cut them down to 435lbs with light cowls and some trimming. So adding an extra 300lbs to only get another 50hp from the same company and charging deep dollars for this loss of efficiency for water craft made me realize the crowd they are after for sure.

Hears a thought How fast would this same boat go with 4 full Monty DBR 300xs motors two 25 inch legs big case on the inside 20s on the out side motors? You would shed over 800lbs off the transom and loose maybe 200hp?

There will be a quad 400 brand new 38 Fountain at the Miami show and we will see what she runs soon.
The other 39 Nortech with quad 400's but no jackplates and 30 pitch props just ran 95mph.

Years back Reggie Fountain had a 38' TE with quad 300xs's and it ran 87mph two people.
The 400r is 100hp more than the 300xs not 50hp.
According to Alden Thorton who works for Nortech the 39' is VERY similar to the 38' Fountain. Also for the record Alden worked and fished for team Fountain for many years before switching camps to Nortech.

The quad 300XS 38 Fountain was set up with $10k worth of Herring props and the engines so high it barely got on plane. I ran 87mph as you stated.
A quad 38 with 350 SCI motors ran 87mph with stock Bravos and is owned by the same guy who ran the Nortech to 95mph with only 200 more HP.
Plug the numbers into the speed calculator and the Nortech is a smidge faster with the same power, setup, etc.
Its so close though you would have to run them side by side on the same day/water.

This is the quad 400 new 38 Fountain that will be at Miami. Its probably lighter than the old record boat being bult with new materials. We will know soon enough.

It is definitely the best CC to date. I believe the guy Prop Bender is one who has switched from Fountain to Nortech. He has many boats.
Again according to Alden who told me personally that his 38 Fountain was at Nortech when this boat was being built. He had a lot input and as you say Doug Wright
    Good combination for sure.

Doug designed that boat and it almost didn't go to Nortech. There is a story behind it and how Doug got involved with doing the design, plugs and molds.

I played with the boat speed calculator and got 93mph for the quad 400 Fountain using the numbers from the quad 350 Fountain. That puts the Nortech 1-2mph faster with similar setups but again....so close.

    The tower is removable.

Apache built a sterndrive 33 center-console in 1986, that went 106 mph, with a arch. But that wouldn't count, right?

Not if we're talking about outboards.

Jaguar Marine's 35 CC has done over 100 with outboards. Just not a mainstream boat company. They're every day 35 CC goes 88 mph with twin 300's, years ago. There are others in the past that have been there, done that. Its all about the advertising & promotion. www.JaguarMarine.com
