Watch the horizon. The boat does not rise (jump). The boat spun out.. wakes don't do that.

Yes he actually would have been ok if he could have hung on to the wheel and never goosed it off the wave pointing his bow up in the air sideways. The bow wasn't vertical but was clearly pointing to the clouds and when the bow slammed down on an angle from that he lost his grip on the wheel everyone went flying and throttle was off on landing with a slight starboard turn making an abrupt stop for any one standing up. If everyone was seated with better lateral support ill bet know one would have a scratch on them. i dont know who the guy seated in the back on the port side was ? but Ill bet he sustained the least injury. His injuries would only be from the other two flying into him is my guess?? Well he did hit his head twice real hard . He would have been an eye socket case or concussion only as he was seated..

Looks like 60s to me. If that was 100+ I doubt the boat would have stayed upright.

I've never had to work the throttles that hard.

I agree though that when you go out by yourself that is completely different than taking passengers with you.

Learn your boat BY YOURSELF BEFORE you put your passengers at risk. Damn, just damn.

Probably impossible to hang on to the wheel in that situation. Agree with the sitting down, but again, there is so much inertia it's hard to say.

Ya agree but other than some harshness bringing it back up does provide an educational purpose I feel. Theres some stuff for instance starting and stopping it and studying the pics I didnt realize until the millionth time i watched it. Knowing now for the first time the severity of the injuries as an example opened my eyes. no pun intended. I thought they were banged up but not that bad and a guy in a wheel chair is real bad!! so watched the clip slow motion and could see how the injury's occurred. That for me provides good in site for how to make situations safer and cockpit design safer. the guy who was seated for example. His face hit hard 2-3 times into the port side gunnel's. Had the padding been thicker and made with a more impact absorbing material he may have sustained zero injury? I know after almost ripping my shoulder off in a spin I am more aware of the things inside my boat that can get me. Ive made some changes to protect me if that happens again.
So hopefully people use this play by play to look at there own boats design and driving habits to lessen the risk of injury.

High speeds in a boat and safe operation will never happen at the same time....To go fast, you gotta hang over the edge some.

^ depends on your definition of " Safe Operation" To me safe operation means minimizing the injury of others, in this case, Jackass should have not put all the others at risk, if he want's to go make a pass and be Capt. throttles ....let him, but don't put others in harms way, let them watch from the sandbar/ shore/ pier/ other boat. Agreed we all take risks, but those risks are what we chose to except the consequences of for US, we have no right to make that decision for others. JMO
