Other than running it without the airbox & looking at it, it depends what data the ECM downloads. Either TPS position/voltage, or throttle stepper motor position. If the stepper motor & TPS voltage don't match up at WOT, there is an issue. AGAIN, I am not familiar with Verados. This comes from dealing with EFI & electronic engine controls since the early 70's. Most of these systems are very generic in both parts needed & operation. Differ mostly in size, shape & operating programs. They suspect an internal engine/bearing issue, anyone done an oil sample analysis?? A lot cheaper & simpler than an engine tear down! ECM's fail at a much lower rate than the sensors/inputs they rely on to control your engine. Remember, trash in, trash out.

Is it true that BRP wants to use your boat to prove the power of their motors and embarrass Mercury???

Don't wait on them you call them you might get lucky . It's funny you guys said BRP but this no joke. Talked to a guy out west couple weeks ago that was a die hard mercury owner and made the switch to evinrude. Guy had his mercury motor go out on him and BRP dealership gave a no brainer deal of 14 years warranty on motor. Lol flip side is you got warranty to and can't get yours fix.

The Sad problem is when they do find the problem you will have a brand new motor with 25-50 hours of abuse looking for a gremlin. Every state has lemon laws search yours and pursue that direction.
I have seen customers get brand new yachts completely replaced through the manufacturer for less reasons than you are having.

Exactly. I have no idea why you are still messing around with mercury or your dealer because they don't take care of their customers from what you have posted. Oh well, I have stated my opinion for what it is worth..... Don't be a test dummy especially when you are paying money. Either it is what the specs are or mercury needs to replace it and figure out WTF is wrong with your engine. I would not spend another dime, Mercury needs to make it right PERIOD. Your dealer obviously can't if they are charging you a dime more than rigging it on your boat.
