Quicksilver props vs Mecury Props: Any quality differences, how do you order either

Looking for some help regarding ordering a 21P Tempest Plus or 21P Quicksilver Torrent 3 Blade RH for my 21' Checkmate Starflite.

Any known quality differences between the two? There is a difference in the price point? Does Quicksilver use different tooling or older versions of the Tempest Plus Mercury stamped prop?

I do see that this particular Torrent model does utilize the PVS plug as does the Tempest Plus. I take it that some other models from Quicksilver do not have the PVS and the Mercury version does. Also some the Quicksilver props do not have the model engraved on the barrel. Would the resale value be less on the Quicksilver.

Lastly, where do you order your Mercury Props from and the the best service and price, and how do I know I have the latest version of the Tempest Plus? Same question with Quicksilver.

    Thanks for the replies!

Have only seen the 2 High 5 versions side by side and the Quicksilver have no PVS holes.

Is the difference in price big enough that it is worth buying a Quicksilver prop and drill some holes if you need them?

Unless they have changed.... the Quicksilver High 5's used to be "Satin" finish vs. Merc's polished high gloss chrome/stainless finish. in addition to the lack of PVS holes.......

Quicksilver were also polished, maybe not a nice as the Merc ones. If in doubt have a new High 5 at work I could take pics of.

Which ever one runs the best on your setup. Every boat and prop vs setup is different. Find a good marina that you have a good relationship with and ask if you can test a few props in your price range and buy the one that gets you your best numbers for your setup.
Then go hit a rock pile and start over.
My brother pick the first prop that way. I was still testing props and he barrows the boat. Next time I see him He asked me why I bought that prop? Well it was the one you hit the rocks with and I couldn't take it back.
