    Question Push-button start?

Has anyone here made a switch style, push button start out of a Mercury wiring harness? I know they used to have one but it's no longer available. I believe it used 3 switches.

Friend did it on a 260 with rocker switches, start switch was spring loaded like a horn switch.

That's what I was thinking. Not sure what wires go where, but figured it couldn't really different from the old factory race boat harness.

Never see a Race harness but would assume they don't have all the trim and gauge wires as a regular harness.??? All the wires that are needed for ign should be the same color.

They are just momentary toggle switches for the starter on the race setup. 1 for ign., 1 for prime, 1 for fuel pump, and 1 for start and the old ones like on the T2's had a kill switch(the kind that attached to your jacket when you got tossed out at 100+, yee haw)

Super simple if you just want to have a push button starter and leave your key switch to turn on/off the ignition and acc... Take the yellow/red stripe wire off the key switch hook it to one terminal on a momentary push button switch hook the other terminal to the purple wire on the back of the key switch and ur done. the key will do all the other functions except start and the button will do that, they have some really cool ones out with led rings . dave
