Anyone have any advice to wiring harness for my 83 merc 2.4?
The engine harness is looking pretty corroded, would like to replace all the electrical in my boat sooner than later.
I am mostly concerned with the engine harness, as the wiring throughout the boat I plan to just do my own.

Dave - I would think you can just buy a new one. I have bought a couple OMC over the years and for like $100-$150ish you can get the whole thing and it takes like 10 minutes to install it.

I am in no way qualified to say if this would work or not but a quick ebay search for mercury keyswitch harness netted this amongst many other options:

    Thanks Mark,

I will have to look around a bit. I know when I was looking before I could find two part numbers I needed for the engine harness. One I knew I could get from Merc, but the other looked like it had been discontinued. I will have to look up the part #'s again and search on ebay. I also got a message from Chad so maybe he can help me out as well.

I need to get this boat back on the water again this year. Its going to be a busy summer again, but thats no excuse.

The paint work on it will have to wait a year or two but I will have it on the water this year even if I have to use a couple of paddles and row myself across the lake. lol Its been 7 years in the making so its long over due. Single dad to a soon to be 7 year old problems. haha

Well, this past Saturday kiddo and I went out to WI to pick up the boat and bring it home.

Just a few pictures before we hook up the boat.

    The boss approves!

Making a quick pit stop before we head out.

Made it home safe and sound.

Just a few pictures of how it sits now. The seats are not bolted in yet.

Kiddo more than approves of the boat and is already chompin at the bit to hit the water. Still some work to do before the motor goes on but after 7 long years, its finally getting there!
