Prop help needed, single engine 24ft cat

    Hello All-

I am in the process of prop testing a 24ft aronow cat with a single 250xs (275hp @ 6000rpm) small shaft fleet master case.

    http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...ect+half+speed

The boat will never be fast but I just want it to run better than it is now.

I currently am running a 22p stock bravo 1 prop. It has way too much tail lift and has a bad porpoise at wide open.

Looking for a new prop in the 22p range, 14.5 diameter, over hub style, small shaft and gives a lot of bow lit. Does anything like this exists?

    Thanks
    Don

I'll chime in although I've never had a 24 cat. Most likely tail lift or prop isn't causing your high speed porpoise, it is due to the fleetmaster lower unit is deep in the water combined with you're boat not achieving the speed necessary to drive through the porpoising.

A couple of questions...Do you have a low water pickup? Do you have a jackplate where you can raise and lower the engine? How many rpms can you turn the propeller you're using? If you move weight forward or back when porpoising, can you tell a difference in severity of it? ( have your buddy go from back seat to under the bow)

    Don,

Get a pro et. They stay hooked up as good as anything and won't give you all of the transom that you are getting from that big thru hub.

    Hi Joe-

That is an interesting prop but I don't think I have seen one in a 22 pitch.

    Thanks
