Question Has anyone honed new rods for 3.3L Evinrude?

Hello, I'm rebuilding a 2005 Evinrude 250 Etec 3.3L powerhead for use as a fishing boat motor. I'm installing new WSM connecting rods. The new rods look beautiful with nicely polished bearing surfaces. What is the opinion on lightly honing a crosshatch pattern on them? I've heard this will help the needle bearings roll better and reduce the chance of them sliding. Or should I run them as is?

    Thank you

Bearing skidding only happens at extreme high RPM or when the bearing has no load. Putting a cross hatch on a bearing surface will only increase the rollers resistence which intern will cause more heat. I would leave them alown and run them as they are.

The clearance the rollers have between the rod and crank is what makes them roll not the surface finish.
