Dirty Etec injector cleaning
Took the fuel manifolds off my 250 etec injectors and this is what I found in there. I was told it was dried up and crystallized ethanol fuel. (the motors have been sitting in storage for nine years) The only thing that seemed to even touch the stuff was some Mercury power tune.
I took them to Florida Injection in Pinellas Park. They said they have seen it before and are going to clean them up for me.Last edited by wingtime; 11-24-2015 at 04:11 PM.

The inside of the VST most likely looks the same. I'd give the entire fuel system on that motor a good cleaning/going through! FYI you can pull the injectors out of their housings, they are just held in by o-rings...

If the inside of the cup shows corrosion when removed you may end up needing to replace the injectors.

I tried removing an injector from a cup but it didn't want to come out. I didn't spend much time messing with it since I was taking it to the injector company. I didn't notice any of this junk elsewhere in the fuel system but I plan on checking it all over carefully. The bummer is a couple of the plastic nipples of the fuel manifold and brp is mighty proud of those.

The little puller is a good idea... I just tried using a slide hammer on one while just holding it... Like you said nothing to loose.. been watching some parts on Flea bay.

Yes I marked each injector tag with it's cylinder number so I put them back where they came from. Of couse if I have to replace any of them I will have to update the emm with the coefficients.

I agree Kevin. I tested the resistance of the injectors and all except one tested ok. Injector #1 tested open so I think the voice coil is bad in that one. Hopefully I'll find out this week.
Marine rebuilders cleaned up my rods and said they may or may not be usable. I'll pick them up and see what you think of them Kevin.

If they dont know the rods are useable they should not be cleaning them up. If the rods have pits in them I would not use them, not worth taking a chance. You should also check cap alignment.
