yes,i did mine with lower removed.not sayn' you HAVE to do it that way,but its alot easier that way to keep the holes in line.the hole saw way with the plugs works well too,just a manner of how much louder you want it.i will post pics when i get home this afternoon.

So I have 2 options examples so far
2 1.75" holes made with a hole saw
4 0.5" Holes I assume just made with a 1/2" Bit.
If I could get some more pics that would be great. Looking at doing this soon. I have the tools for both options. Those freeze plugs seem like an easy solution

i know i talked about this on another thread, i drilled my 1987 johnson gt 150 , right into the stock holes in the back of the mid, all the way into the tuner, didnt do anything, seems like i get more mist out of there, but , not louder at all......

a buddy of mine did his 225 at the lower unit with a dremmel and a hole saw....loud as ****

I drilled mine at the stock reliefs, didnt do ****. Made more mist come out. Not 1 bit louder
