    Mercruiser Alignment Tool

    Good day Guys
I am looking for a bit of help
Due to a whole lot of logistical reasons, mainly that the Local Merc Distributor does not have it in stock.
We would like to make the alignment tool for the Mercruiser engine to transom bracket.
Mainly need the tool that goes in from the back before you fit the drive unit
    Think part number is 91-805475A1
Anyone have this tool that you can measure and send us the dimensions.
    wayne@aquatechmarine.co.za

    Thanx

I used to use an old driveshaft, the part that goes through the gimble bearing. Dissassemble the u joint and weld a piece of 1" black pipe or rigid conduit as a handle. Used it for several years when I was in the business. Gave it to a friend of mine and he still uses it to this day....

Worst case measure you driveshaft and duplicate minus the splines.

    Good luck!!!

that might work for aligning the bearing, but it would be a slow process with a fresh engine install. the smooth end of the bar is undersized from the coupler slightly so it can be inserted partialy even if the engine is out of alignment so you can read the spline grease marks giving you info on which direction to move motor!

I can probably get you the dimensions today sometime when time permits!

I got mine off ebay for like 20 dollars brand new. They are on Amazon as well from a variety of places but are higher priced on Amazon. Maybe faster to receive from Amazon. Some come with the other odds and end tools like the bearing tool to tap in your bearing and the tool to tap in your bellows retainer as well as teh gimbal tool.

That file is the sort of thing that I am looking for, but that file is too small.
    Please, any other help.
Transport costs to get this to Windhoek in Namibia are the limiting factor.
Easier for them just to machine one up

If you Google mercury alignment tool specifications, there are images there with measurements. I don't know if they are correct or not.

the snout is 1.010dia.X2.2,next section is 1.15dia.X2.75,next section is 1.375dia. I doubt you need more unless you were doing a tr drive.

Sierra makes one part # 18-4442, might be less $$$ than a Merc one.
