Good buy if they are quality molds. I just spent more than that to have a set built for the 13' Critchfield cabover.

Hustler Boats, Ben Robertson, Ugly Boats and me. This is a splash and I think ugly has the 21' original molds.

It might not be Ugly Boats, but last I knew the original 21' molds were in Texas.

From what I recall. The manufacture with the original molds must either give permission or have not produced any for I believe 2 years. Don't hold me to this, it has been a while since I have read the "Splash"laws.

I bought all the original tooling for the Talon 21 around 200. Hull, deck, liner, bulkhead patterns and windshield mold. I dealt with Robert Wilkens who was representing Bill Armington and his Talon Boats.
Part of the sale was a contract to pay a royalty fee for each boat I manufactured which there were only 6 of. I have sold 5 of them locally here in the Houston area and still have my yellow one I built for myself which Instigator saw when he was here for the Winter Nationals a few years back.
I owned the 21 Talon Gaylon Burton had Talon build for him and i loved it, awesome rough water boat. I wanted a new one but Talon had quite production of them and put the molds in storage. I had built some 18' tunnel fishing boats in the past, being an Evinrude dealer it gave me a way to sell a few motors.
After talking with Robert for a few months they agreed to sell me the molds. Being a dealer and having some experience in building gave them some confidence that I would build a quality product. They were very helpful with the technical side suggesting the Vinyl Ester resin and Knitex glass.
This is a hard and expensive way to get the boat you want but fun and satisfying.
I doubt there would be any repercussions from building out of this mold even though it is a copy.

I am confused. So do you own the original Gary Armington Talon 21' deck, hull and liner molds now?

    Hummmhhh.........

I loved it there and would love to do it again. Saw more drag passes in one day than anywhere I've ever been.

Hummmhhhhh............, course last time there I bought a boat I did not need
