This boat has a little history,I bought it from the original owners estate. He was the owner of Medallion instrument co. In 1976 Switzer supplied the boat, and Mercury supplied the 1500XS motor. It was fitted with most every gauge that Medallion made, and was a "boat show queen"for two years.Showcasing the three companies products. Then ownership was transferred to the owner of Medallion for two bucks. A dollar for Merc and a dollar for Switzer.

Love the old Swits! Had a 74 SS17 like that but had the "football cutout" hull and horizontal trim only rams on the XS. Damn, yep, wish I never sold it either! Last pic was original blue strip, then I added red to match the boat.

Yep! Seldom had them in though. Had 3 6 gallon tanks in the back so 18 gallons for the day, and a cooler with 18 beers! Went M/T both about the same time before a "reload". And that Merc was a BEAST! Ran a cupped 14x28 2 blade. Thing is I bought it after 2 years new a friend (had a party W/E house Fox Chain, Illinois). He went to a Carlson/Glastron CVX23 460 jet drive party boat. But we knew Bobby (and Carol wifey and brother Dave) Switzer personal and he had it "special orded" off Bobby, motor was massaged by Ralph Kozan (everyone called him "uncle Ralph" and a WIZARD Mercs) And rigging done at Fox Lake Harbor by Jim Moulis sprint car racer, "King of the cushion"!
But when the mentioned the rear seats? DAMN a "mem" So its late march and 4 us from the (snow) ski club after out all night head for the lake morning, me and Rita front, Vic and Gordy back "seatless" but braced against the front seats looking aft. So we are cooking along WOT, and all of a sudden I'm in a cloud of "WHITE POWDER" (not the nose type 70's then, but maybe involved).
Damn Gordy back there hanging on put his foot on the fire extinguisher lever and broke the plastic release pin! As had the windshield, it all came forward and I was fast a "WTF" moment?
Just to damn funny and 39 years later still know those idiots and STILL remember it and get a good laugh "remember when"
Wish I had more pix it, got a few more in the house. But then we simple had FUN boating, and none bothered with a pic as..well...real is the way, the mems and great friends. Best times my life!

Ya know, ya might have confused me on "two facing rear seats". If ya meant side by side facing rear, NO! The rear side "facing each other" seats like the Super Hugger 160 brochure, not like the Super Sport 170. Rarely had them in though as extra weight, and just me and the GF in it mostly.
But it was, and STILL is one sweet looking boat/motor/paint and decals motor...simple "sexy"!
But that one "sexy" boat ya got! And love the "history"!

Oh yeah, I had to go back and re read all the post. With the motor your planning should do better the 80+ easy. Heck, I got 73 best with the XS!

That's a sweet ride right there!
I like the 1500XS..always wanted one of those. They have their own sound all wound up..Sweet!
I also like the looks of that pad. Wide, and has an ever so slight v to it..looks like about 3 or so degrees? Bet that makes for a little softer reentry huh?
80 should be no sweat with your plans
How did it do with the 1500?
I did acquire a project a couple weeks back. Drove way to far..paid way to much...but I like it!!
Found a V-King that was almost unmolested. It's had some transom work, but still has the splash welll. And it has been repainted...if you want to call it that. It's chipping and peeling all over. Prep wasn't done right, and paint isn't supposed to be 20 mills thick..
The floor is mush, but the hull is intact, no cracking or de-laminating.
Think I am now the 3rd owner. It's a running usable rig, and I was/am tempted to get it wet...but I know better.
That's all OK though, because it's getting gutted, and the deck coming off too. It's getting a complete make over. All epoxy and composite materials. It has a good 2.5 175 on it now. Compression and leak down testing all perfect.
This is my first Stream, so I am stoked.
