Truck vs SUV which do you prefer to have?
Whether for traveling, hauling, and towing. The two that I've narrowed it down to would be a used Chevy 1/2 ton truck, Tahoe or Suburban.

Both + a good 4 door sedan or two that are at least 275 HP. Works for us.
Get a 6cyl subaru if you live up north, can't be beat in the snow unless you pay 4 times more. We have a tribeca and a 3.6R sedan. They kick ass in snow when they have good tires. We run Continental Extreme Contacts on ours and they work great.
If you are going to feed the gas needs of a Tahoe or suburban, bet a 3500 diesel dually if you like GM and enjoy the Allison tranny.Last edited by Baja170; 10-16-2015 at 07:38 PM.

Or Better swap a DURAMAX-ALLISON into a late model 3/4ton 4x4 SUB/TAHOE.It's a plug and play.

A truck will do it for me cause it offers an ability to tow our 5th wheel.

i keep one of each on hand. trying to decide today what i am driving to the Suwanee run tonight. either hummer h2 sut or Lisa's f250 crew cab. the f250 with the 6.7 diesel has the best powertrain for towing. my h2 is way more comfortable to ride in.

I like trucks. We have a Subaru SUV and Sedan. I have a 3500HD Diesel to pull the 5er and a 1500 6.2 double cab shortest they make to drive daily. I got it from the GM at my local dealership, it was his special order demo. I have also driven a couple Cadillac SUV's and a Suburban he had as demos over the years. I like trucks, I haul too much stuff around I don't want in an SUV. I just got the used 1500 a few weeks ago and pulling my boat around with it being 6 feet shorter than my 23' with hitch dually is a breath of fresh air. Although, if Ford is putting Allison transmissions in their new Excursions which I have heard, it might be a good option for you. Nothing is better than an Allison 6 speed in a diesel, I have owned Fords and Chevy Diesels.

Smaller boats and light trailers, the Expedition is my pick. Turning rad 2nd to none. Towing bigger stuff over 4000#s I will use my F250. The turning radius of the suv is real nice backing and maneuvering around the ramp. Truck has brute power, but not nearly as easy to maneuver around in tight spaces as the suv. Both are 4x4's, wouldn't own either one w/o it.

Love my GMC Denali Yukon. 6.2 LT is good on gas {I think} and has over 420 hp 460 ftlbs. Pulls fully loaded like there nothing there. when not pulling it does 0-60 in 5 sec!! Not bad performance at all for a big suv.

My 2015 Ford Escape 4WD with 240HP rated for 3500 Lbs tows my 1991 Hydrostream Virage and trailer with 200 HP Mercury Black max just fine with lots of torque at launch ramp and plenty of power for highway as well. Love the job it did this past summer.

For hunting I preferred my Suburban. Nice having your weapons and important gear inside the vehicle during stops. For racing I prefer a pickup, race fuel inside the back of the Suburban smelled too strong.
