If helm output is the same in both directions, doesn't the unbalanced ram mean the steering reacts faster in one direction than the other?

It is TWO years later and I am FINALLY getting around to rebuilding this Eliminator!!!
So I just wanted to acknowledge everyone's contribution to this thread and helping me with this steering issue. In the past two years, many new steering systems are on the market for the Verado systems and such. So now I am wondering... should I just stick with the helm I have and add the reservoir or look towards one with the power assist?
Any suggestions on an old thread that is finally getting executed to Taking Action?David "Tango" Wilks

I pieced together my seastar system and used the highest volume helm pump they make. i was a rookie on the seastar but was able to bleed it and had what i considered very positive control and no required correction to keep it straight. it stayed dead straight. the wheel center would wander after a while but i didnt consider that a problem. only issue i had if you can call it that was steering input was slightly tougher in one direction at speed presumably from motor torque. a torque tab would probably cure that. always steered great, didnt require many turns of the wheel.
