Thats true. I bet the market skews 2 ways for these things in the future. Low for the ones that VW "fixes" and high for the ones that are still operating correctly. LOL.

Apparently this is not the first time Germans have lied about gas emissions.

A few companies have 'cheated' the emissions testing before, but VW is on a bigger scale.

VW should have hired Hillary to deny it, then they would have gotten away with it

Here in ONtario, we had a very good emissions program running, every car from a certain year forward was tested every two years for tail pipe levels. The system worked plain and simple. If your levels for HC , NOX, etc were too high for your spicific vehicle you had to fix it before the permit was issused.
The system was change becaused it worked !!!! Now for the last few years, it's a plug in diagnostic test, no tail pipe levels are tested. THe system scans if a code is given for a rich burn. So the auto makers have programed the vehicles to have a very low standard for what is considered a rich burn, or incomplete burn by the cat, high HC , NOX etc. The catalytic may be on it's way to failing and the last O2 sensor after the cat reads this. The problem is that certain manufactures cats are not working correctly after a couple of years, the cats are under new car warranty, and millions of shat boxes would have failed the test, the snif test and come back to the dealers for warranty claimes. Certain automakers lobbied the gov to have this changed to an honor system or it would have hit the fan!!!

    Ha Ha! Yep, Absolutely!

I owned a couple new TDI's a few years back and I remember spending quite a bit of money to by-pass or undo all the EPA related B.S.

How far out of EPA limits are they? I mean, if it's only by 5% or so, who gives a rats butt?

VW should tell the EPA that the program they have in their cars doesn't cause as much pollution as gold mine waste water does.
