Longshot is the pic below the same as what you now have with your hose routes on the one piece popstat X ?

No. I ran from the left thermostat housing to the right thermostat housing then out as mentioned. Since the left side runs colder, although probably will not under running condition, it will see a little more restriction to flow. And of course it doesn't have the hose coming off the poppet.

Ahh, gotcha. I did not read it that closely. Well, I'd suspect you are going to be happy once the lake test run occurs. Looks like you are on the 1 yard line. Good luck.

I hope you are correct and it is the one yard line with the goal line next instead of 99 yards the other way. Been there for a while. Learned a lot. Mercury was just silly for not isolating the coils from the 5 volt system. I still have to order a new engine oil tank as it appears that float switch can't be replaced. I am sure there will be other challenges but if this mod works on the one piece adapter there will be some satisfaction. If it doesn't I will swap out the adapter for a two piece. I am going to test the motor on an XB2002 that I have been working on forever so boat and motor will be getting finished up at the same time. Fingers are crossed. The SCM monitor was a fine addition. Still can't get the trim programmed but all the other info it provides is nice. What is the other 8 pin plug at the motor?

Here is an update on the project. I sold the lower unit that was on the 225x, got busy on spring time yard work and now I have sold the boat that the motor is on. Not to be completely thwarted by greed() and real work, I stuck a Sportmaster on it today and fired it up. Going to take it to the lake tomorrow then I have to pull the motor off. One thing I noticed immediately was the water pressure with the Sporty was lower at idle than the 200 case that had a brand new impeller and housing in it. The motor warmed up really quick on the hose and did not start peeing at idle speed with the SCM temp going to 135. I eased the idle up until I got 2.5 psi water pressure and voila....stats were open and it started peeing a stream like a 16 year old boy. Temps went to 98 degrees just by holding idle up a little. Just not enough water pressure at idle to get enough water to the top of the motor. I think the low water pressure is the reason the port bank is running a little warmer shooting with the IR at the top of the head. There isn't enough water getting up there and that is the high side. I bet when it is at cruising speed everything levels out. Wouldn't know unless I had the DDT in the boat with me. I think I could keep messing with the drain holes in the one piece adapter until I got it right but right now I am going to run the motor and if everything works as it should I am going to put the powerhead on my 225 Pro Max mid on my fishing boat and run the thing for a while.
Second update: I took it to the lake today. Acted the same as it did on the hose. .2-.3 psi water pressure at idle, got warm quickly and then as soon as rpm's were added and water pressure raised to about 2.5PSI it would start peeing and the temp would fall back. Took about 1350 rpms to get enough water to it to pee. Ran fine on throttle hit, boat would break over, rpm's start to climb to 3000 or so and then it would go in guardian mode. I have to get it off the boat so this chapter is done. I am guessing it just isn't seeing temp, pressure and rpm balanced the way it wants and the PCM is saying Uh-Uh. Next time I try it will be on a ProMax two piece adapter.Last edited by LongShot; 04-26-2016 at 02:30 PM.

Thinking maybe at higher rpm it is comparing water vs engine speed and doesn't like it. I am out of time with it so it goes in the corner for a while. I hope I get the chance to put it on a Pro Max adapter and mid and see if it likes that.

28' foot Skater located there I am interested in. Twin 300x power. Sure would like for someone knowledgeable to look at it if things get more serious.

And a waiting list. My sources say you can't just whack the tanks out and set aluminum tanks in the cavities as the tanks are structurally stressed parts of the boat. I guess I will just have to leave that box unchecked on the list right now. I am building a 250 XS Sport and a 300X so I might look around for a bigger single engine hull.
