    Hydrostream Vegas Help Needed

I am supposed to go look at / possibly buy a 1984 Hydrostream Vegas hull with a floor that was just done over the summer. This would be to replace for now my Vegas that needs a floor ect. The seller states that when he bought the boat 8 years ago it had gotten a new floor but he had to replace it possibly because it wasnt done right so went bad again. I have a pic of the hull with floor removed. He states the core was okay so did not need replacing. From what I am reading it seems imposible for me to tell from the pic if the core is rotted or not. So was so excited to hang my 200 and plate on this and go rip this wknd. Now I`m having second thoughts about even going to look at it. Stream experts / enthusiasts please chime in and tell me what you think?

Run away from it, it needs a core.

The fact that he "screwed" the floor down should tell you everything you need to know about that core. Run far far away unless the boat has some sentimental value to you or you're determined to recore a boat. Check out my resto thread in my sig line. If a boat kept like mine ended up rotten and wet, I promise you this one is no different. Sorry for the bad news my friend.

So okay let's say the floor has some rot ,makes sense , will the new floor prevent a catastrophe failure my kids will be riding in this boat . reinforced the stringers . It was on eBay the 1984 blue Vegas also was on Central Jersey Craig's ? I have a motor and need a hull asap to enjoy this extended season its still nice out .

He screwed it all right. you don't use screws to put in a new floor. Now the core and stringers are compromise for sure.

I have a rebuilt merc 200 looking for a hull to bolt it on and go rip let me know if you come across a safe one that's been recored .I guess this isn't an issue with older tunnel hulls ???

I have not seen nor do I know of ANYONE that has bought or looked at any HydroStream boat that doesn't need a record done to it. It would be just dang near impossible for one to not need it recored. The boat would have had to been kept inside since day one for it to be in good shape.
Good luck with finding a go fast boat ready for a motor to be bolted up and go for it. There out there but gotta look hard. Actually depends on what you want to spend.
