Mariner 175 EFI ECU
1995 Mariner EFI
Been having issues with my ECU and fuel pump ,to start off about 3 years a go we had the ECU reprogram and the fuel pump replaced cause of low performance, this helped until now .Now the pump is putting out 26 psi but if by pass the ECU it puts out 42 psi .I have replaced all fuel lines, filters cleaned all screens ,replaced bulb with a mercury bulb did all this the psi starts at 38 psi then it will drop to 26 psi .
With this said i have heard of people coming off the purple wire through in a relay and running it to the fuel pump and running the pump with the key on.
Big question will this affect anything to run it this way, will this make the engine load up and the injectors get to much fuel .WE spent around 1500 to get this ecu tested and reprogram ,and really cant do this every 3 years .
Any ideas anyone.

ive done it many times there are no adverse anythings connected to that rewire, im all so past the relay business i know of two guys running right off the purple wire one for 3 years other 1 year so it obviously works, before i did all that i would check out the regulator on top of the vst im running a in the boat fuel pump now and it set on 42 lbs all the time ecu regulates what fuel get into cylinders oh wait you have the old style vst you check the u shaped fuel line under the pump ? i push that screen out forever also you can add one in the fuel line before the pulse pump lots easier to get to

im a motor rebuilder by trade and i dont send my ecus to anyone any more there is no lasting satisfaction most of the time i buy ecus off fellow members or ebay i bought two 175 ecus this year for 100. for one and 95 for the other both of them were great boxs, but most the time you spend 250-400 for ecu's, sometimes you get stiffed but usually on ebay and you pay with paypal your guaranteed no money is lost and when nearly every motor is efi u cant spend the kind of money and stay in business , just my humble opinion

Well said.
we spent to much to have one program and only last 3 years a person would go broke or stopped living life if he keep this up.

Send JDewaard on here a PM. I sent him a 200ECU to try on his motor if he is done, not sure he is just tell him Tony said its OK to send it to you to try. Please, make sure I get it back though....
BTW, check the terminal ends on your 2 power leads to the VST pump to make sure the wires are not broken in the jacket.

I am done with it, I believe. I was getting ready to send it back, but if Tony said it's okay I will ship it to you Dave. Just let me know. I am heading out tomorrow night for my trailer for the weekend and I won't be back until late Monday night. I can ship it out Tuesday if you like, just PM me. If not, it's going back to Tony.
