Thru hull fitting to vent stepped hull?
I am sure the brains on here have thought of and attacked an idea I had today but I haven't seen it spoken of so I am gonna put it out there.
On my bass boat, the hull has about an 8" step. Every time I lay under the boat and inspect the pad and think about potential changes, I wonder if the step can cause a suction effect when getting on plane or hopping up on the pad. What's the verdict? If it does cause a suction of sorts, would using a through hull fitting and routing the hose above the water line to one of the air scoops allow the boat to pop up on plane or pad with ease?

Im no expert, but I do believe that they do that on big race boats for that same reason. Would think it would do the same on a smaller boat.

When my 28 Skater is having a bad hair day it does one of those stuck in the back end things. Usually it's one side or the other.
I believe its doing just what you are talking about.
I've always thought a good size hose (2") would make a difference. Haven't worked up the stone s to do it yet.Wriggleys gum makes me think of boating, "Double your engines, Double your fun"

I did that with the notch on my superboat to release the suction when coming out of the hole. Made a world of difference.

A cat I built had the same prob, it wasn't a speed boat but it had pockets for trim tabs built in. We didn't put tabs on it so when running the pockets caused the boat to stick to the water on one side or the other. We filled them in, no tabs were ever installed. Boat runs great now.

Will Smith of Phantom powerboats uses a very similar system. of internal ventilation. we even experimented with this concept for a STv hull in the mid 90`s the mold is resting at warhawk boats in Alabama

Some one has done it on a shadow vee hull and it helped him. A good way to test would be to get an average time of holeshot with set amount of weight. And if you can video holeshot with a go pro pointed at the pad. Then do the install and that should help. Another way is if you have a livewell with a drain to the notch area and a wired close switch then do that as you are getting on plane to test.
1984 17vee Bullet w/1985 Johnson 150gt (bob's nose cone, hydrodynamics custom 8in. jackplate, custom skid plate and foil, and 26p trophy plus) currently 70mph tournament loaded.
