Yup. Brett and I could both strap bricks to our bullets and still run the same top speed :-)

I wonder if the Volvo Penta gearcase would be easier to make work. Dont they have a waterpump in the lower unit? They are very reliable.

Inexpensive and looks like something that might work

Goes into gaurdian when you back off the power. My guess is that the Verado cases are shimmed with no prop shaft endplay unlike a standard 3L. They Have Tried shimming the case b7t that's what eating stuff up. My suggestion is send the ecu to simon and have him disable the shift sensor......

H20 most of the Bravo gear ratio options are thru a combination of upper and lower gears. I was looking at doing the same thing and running 2 starters one for c/r, could be done with efi

I think your correct, its just above the drive but not in the boat like a Merc I/O.

OMC King Cobra became the VP SX. I wonder of the bolt pattern is OMC outboard style.

Chris, all volvo sx's use engine driven seapumps, typically driven directly off the harmonic balancer. Cone shifting in the upper gearcase. I think you are confusing them with the short lived OMC Cobra's which had water pumps in the upper gearcase and cluthch dog shifting in the lower gearcase...

OMC had a drive cone clutch with pump off the upper gear set, it used 4 gears in the upper.

Hey Al, Starting counter for reverse would be really cool. I agree on the ratios, the one I was playing with supposedly had 19/15 gears, that would be like 1.27 . I was ready to do it other than not having any of the tools to get it apart to cut down the input shaft, putting a water pump on the adapter plate didn't seem like too much work. If my current project eats the 3L sportmaster in a hurry I will do it, there are a lot of used imco units around. . Sorry to get the thread so far off . Dave
