Yes , I called it "purging" in my post .
    I also use "Solarflux - B "
The picture I posted was of the small weld I put at the top and bottom of the flange . Not an ideal place to put a rubber stopper while welding .... LOL

A rod cap bolt walked out... and in turn... the cap blew a part, and then the crank mashed what was left of the rod though the block. It beat the piss out of the back of the fuel pump, cracked the block internal... and shattered a sleeve. But, a little TIG time took care of most of it. The home oven was employed to put the new sleeve in. (boy, the wife was pissed. LOL)

I Love the '' muffin and block '' mixture. The wife ( mine at least ) would be pissed at this. Keep yours, she is a rare specimen.

    I plan on it.

When I told her what I needed to do... she gave me a funny look. But... she did want the boat to run a gain. And if using the oven could save $4k over buying a new powerhead... she was OK with it. Her response was... "Well, let me bake my muffins, before you ruin the stove."

    No caffeine ...
That's were I have to draw the line ... beside's , I thought the shakes are where all those nice beads come from ...
My purge / back gas / argon leak to the inside , is just a ball valve thru a nitrous jet ( some habits are hard to break ) then thru some tygon hose and a ACE hardware stopper (another one on the other end too ) .
I have a .040 gas lens set up . Had it for a couple of years . Just cant seem to bring myself below .062 for some reason ...

I have the Synchowave 180. Originally I was looing at a small inverter, but the local dealer made me a heck of a deal on it, since it was "Last years" model. I got mine for $1k out the door, with a new bottle, rods, and a dozen tungsten tips. (a few of each kind)

On aluminum... I can get good welds... just could never make them pretty.
