Yes , I called it "purging" in my post .
I also use "Solarflux - B "
The picture I posted was of the small weld I put at the top and bottom of the flange . Not an ideal place to put a rubber stopper while welding .... LOL

I know two things that are infinite, the Universe and Human's Stupidity, although I am not sure about the first one.

I plan on it.
When I told her what I needed to do... she gave me a funny look. But... she did want the boat to run a gain. And if using the oven could save $4k over buying a new powerhead... she was OK with it. Her response was... "Well, let me bake my muffins, before you ruin the stove."

That is correct .. !
A welder is a machine ...
A welder is a man who welds like a machine .... See the difference ...
Mannnnnnn , them muffins look gooooooodddddddd ....
baja200merkAnyone want to take a swing at this 2012 3.4 300
If Beefy done that , he can fix it himself ....
If not , I ain't skeerd ... fixed some way worse than that ...

DaveThat's were I have to draw the line ... beside's , I thought the shakes are where all those nice beads come from ...
No caffeine ...
My purge / back gas / argon leak to the inside , is just a ball valve thru a nitrous jet ( some habits are hard to break ) then thru some tygon hose and a ACE hardware stopper (another one on the other end too ) .
I have a .040 gas lens set up . Had it for a couple of years . Just cant seem to bring myself below .062 for some reason ...

I have the same machine, inverter at work has craped out several times but the 250 keeps on tickin. Yea bought the .040 thinking probably melt/burn right off but cool looking little bead that I never thought I could do and the machine has never been on 20 amps. Dave.

I have the Synchowave 180. Originally I was looing at a small inverter, but the local dealer made me a heck of a deal on it, since it was "Last years" model. I got mine for $1k out the door, with a new bottle, rods, and a dozen tungsten tips. (a few of each kind)
On aluminum... I can get good welds... just could never make them pretty.
