225 Looper / Holley blue...
Hello!
Almost the same info as below can be read in another thread, but I start this new with a more accurate title in order to get the attention from guys who have had the same problems/issues;
Last week I removed the VRO due to surging problems, after that family
took the boat out for a long drive yesterday, runs great but it seemed to be flooding a bit at idle, pressure set at 5.5psi (Gauge and regulator placed an inch before carb fuelrail)
After this ride I adjusted the pressure to 4.5psi at the fuelrail, but it still idles slow and tends to create "a rainbow" in the water It idled perfectly before I swiched the pump, now it idles in the same manner as when I install too rich idle orfices...
Ideas/questions:
- Perhaps my floats are set to high? Appx 1mm passed the bowl edge when held uppside down. (Needles & seats are all new)
- What is the proper pressure to run?
- Can this be caused by a leaking primer solenoid?
- I first noticed this after idling with motor tilted up (shallow water), can this have made the floats stick?
Friends, please give me some ideas!

how about your puddle drain system
6 valves with filters in the inlet and 6 barbs in the block plus the lower to top bearing plumbing etc
L77jc4 plugs?

Found the problem, #1 Carb flooding really bad.
Resat all the floats level with bowl edge, however the problem didn't go away before I rerouted the carb hoses.
It seemes like the two end attachments of the fuelrail "five way tee" delivers more pressure than the others, therefore I connected the two hoses with tees that divides the fuelhose to feed two carbs each, onto the end attachements, that together with a pressure lowered to 4.2psi cured the flooding issue.
Now I just hope 4.2psi is enough at WOT...

Pressure does not change by rerouting hoses. Carbs should handle 5 psi without issue.

Ok, Racer!
I changed the the float bowl on the leaking carb, must have been what cured the leak then.
Do you think 4.2psi is enough?

5.5 is where I set all the motors I have done. If you want to know if it will be ok at WOT hook up a fuel pressure gauge and watch it as you run.

If you continue to have problems, you may want to try replacing your needle/seats. If you have your floats set right, 5-5.5 psi should be no problem. If it is, then most likely the rubber on the needles has shrank a little or has become hard and won't hold much pressure back. Just speaking from a past experience.
