For me K&K had Mercury along with Davidsons(?) in East Rockaway. Went to Al Grover's a lot also but had The Mooring in Baldwin and they were closest to me carrying OMC parts. Most my time was at Dave Merklins for used parts and motors
Nice to view the Evinrude 1972 brochure! Looks like a Donzi Sweet 16 outboard and a Glasspar G3 in the photos. Couple of my dream boats as a youngster. No way I could afford one of them though so I built Glenn L boats. Back then you could build a wooden boat for way less a fiberglass boat.
Thanks is for putting up the brochure!

I remember Al Grover's and K&K so vividly - such good memories! Is that old Grover's trans-atlantic record boat still there on Woodcleft Avenue?
I'm happy you're enjoying the brochures - I love 'em. I have many, many more coming.

Dave Merklin passed away this year sadly .He was a super guy and helped me out a lot with my Hurricane 10 Merc , Scott Atwater 10 ,and all my Evinrudes . He was also my main Hobby Shop growing up , very cool guy . RIP Dave .
He along with Bob and the guys at Outboard Service across the street from Grover , were very influential in my young mechanical development . Engines were pretty easy to learn then !Last edited by Tom Foley; 08-03-2015 at 04:56 AM.

Thanks for the memories, my favorite year. I couldn't wait for the new brochures to come out every year. We were lucky enough to buy 2 new 1972 Evinrudes' from Alhambra Marine in Massapequa. A 40hp that went on my 13 whaler, and a 65hp that went on my brother's 13 Checkmate, then later on my 13 Alison. If you look at the pictures for the 65hp, the small boat next to the picture of the 3 skiers looks like a 13' Checkmate.
