    Oppinions Evinrude or Merc

    I have a strong running 1971 125 HP Evinrude Seletric that wont shift out of forward Gear. All was working well last night when we started it it was shifting just fine and then it was locked up. I know there were issues with some Solenoid in the lower unit and from what I understand they are impossible to find.

    I have also located a 1984 Mercury 115 HP Tower of Power with power trim and tilt said to be excellent running order, Appears to be clean and well cared for, all rigging, aluminum tank (I don't need) and all gauges....$1500 or best offer.

    So is the Mercury the simple way to go and sell the Rude off as part or try to get the Rude running?

    I don't think I will be losing any performance and possibly gaining with the Merc.

    Tell me what the expert think.
