Slow 21 Sanger alley cat with 300 pro max!?
Hey guys my cousin just purchased a 1982 Sanger alley cat with a 1999 300pro max on it. Has about 1 foot of set back, and a 26 pitch bravo prop. Boat only runs 77.9 on gps. I let him borrow about 4 props, 2 mazcos , a drag 3 and a 30 cleaver and non of them had a good hole shot or really performed much better than the 26 Bravo. The 28 Mazco was close. The motor height is about 1 inch above the outside sponsons. The previous owner told us when the bought had a 2.4 brisgeport on it that it ran 93. Just thought the big 3.0 be a little faster than 77. Any help is appreciated. Thanks mark

I have been struggling with the same problem. bought a 23' alley cat with twin 2.5 200efi's. boat came with 26p bravo 1's that got me to a very disappointing 69 mph. tried a pair af 28p labbed choppers got me to 72mph with a weaker holeshot. I now have a set of 30 cleavers on their way to try. previous owner claimed 92mph with the bravo 1's, I thought he was full of chit but didn't think it would be that far off. turns everything he told me about the boat was a lie

Those boats get heavy as they age (water intrusion, repairs being done, and people adding things over the years) I bet you guys will be surprised if you get it weighed. Try a pro et or a drag four and that should get you your best result. My guess is mid to high 80s. Run the motor up and keep trying.

Anybody know an approximate weight for a 21' or 23'? How big of a difference with twin 200efi 2.5s vs twin Bridgeport's?

If it is a true tunnel, not a trihull the motor is probably still too deep. On my trick the prop shaft runs almost up to the bottom of the center of the boat which is way above the outside sponsons.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm sure it is fairly heavy plus it's a big boat too. We will keep experimenting on it. Seems like it really likes a 4 blade. Hopefully a little more motor height helps its.
