2.5/280 ROS, 225X or maybe a 200XS. Never really liked refrigerators hanging off the back especially offshore, power to weight and cog.

Mine flies level and lands smooth with a big 3.1 Yamaha off the back.... I have seen 74mph.... The same boat has been 77.2mph with a 300hpdi. I can't imagine how lethargic these big fat ladies would be with a 2.5l of any variety.....
Even with big block torque they need chop to get going... It's all how big your balls are to run in the rough... Sadly, mine are not quite big enough.. lol.
I believe mine to be the second fastest outboard boat... And it's a straight hull.Last edited by Mitchie; 07-28-2015 at 12:57 PM.

Superbash has many threads on his and other superboats his size. I believe his was just shy of 80 with a 300x

That's fine. With the 225x a solid 72, I think the next owner got a bit more, straight hull 95. Much better cog in the swells vs chop. It's really up to the driver and throttle man; if there is one. 2.5ROS is outrageous, I ran one on LI years backed with a 2.5/280, walked right past me well north of 75.

You can forget a 2.5L motor on a 24' Superboat. Waste of time. You'll end up burning more fuel and going slower than if you had a 3.0, 3.1, or 3.3
