What year Olds, stock crank, N casting are strong, rods are strong, what letter head, if you need extra strenght Mondello in CA has lots of options from caps to girdles etc. You shouldn't have any problem with a 455 if you set it up right. Easy to make 500 hp and loads of torque with stock big valve heads and porting and good cam choice with intake and have it live for years. Not sure about that pump.

Its a 70 455 from the Fremont CA plant , from what i learned tracing the serial numbers back it more than likely came from a 442 . I havent broken it down yet but it has "E" heads and if my research was good it should have the nodular crank in it . I'll have a better idea after i tear it down . If its internals are good i'm going to leave it alone aside from a few oiling modifications and new seals . This boat is just too big to expect big MPH numbers from a 350 to 400 hp Olds . To break upper 60's to 70 i'm gonna need 500 to 600 hp and while i can get that out of the Olds with a whole lot of money I could do the same with a bbc for a lot less money .

Gil, yeah sandbar at Winnisquam gets fairly crowed by the bridge but plenty of space usually to anchor your boat. There is a smaller sandbar over by where the new launch ramp is and my wife and I go there often when main sandbar gets to crowded. Great clean clear water lake and I do not miss the madness over at Winnipesaukee at all. You would love it I think - your boat is the perfect size and will probably be the only boat with a jet pump drive. Mine is the only Hydrostream I have seen to date Take care. Jim

Looking good. What happened with the olds, did you get into it? As I said before, porting those heads which should be big valve heads and a good cam, intake that's worked and matched and 850+ holley will get you all the power that pump will take. That e head or big valve c head motor with a quadra jet did 500 torque and 370- 400 HP depending on the cam option and car it was in.The F heads are most looked for but a properly ported c or e will get it done, at this point in time F heads are left stock for restorations. The Toro GT was rated at 400 HP, the B07 Delta about 390 HP so bit of work and you are in the range with stock rods and pistons. Cost wise a BBC will still need work to get those numbers unless you have a big c i tall deck.

At about the 1:48 mark, he gives it some revs. Had to turn on the speakers and turn it up. Really good sound.
