    Mercury laser 220

First start up for the season. Fuel pump starts with the main switch ? Ignition key switch was off. Can it
be ECU and does the Ecu have power with te key switch off ?
Nothing changed for this season except for removed oil pump.

    Please help me !

Check for power coming out of the switch when in off position. Could be the key sw is bad. At least a place to start.

Just been out for the first run for the season. Every thing works like it should
except for the fuel pump. Cant find anything wrong with the key switch etc.
Had forgotten to remove the warning module after oil pump removal so it beeped
from start. Also have solid motor mounts for this season. BIG difference !
    Any more ideas ???

    Thanks

Nothing wrong with key switch. Two red wires from pump. Between them its 12..volt with main switch on. The outer wire
is the positive it comes from battery. What is the other red wire that works like a negative when messuring between them ?
The pump should also stop after 20-30 sec with engine not started ????

The pump is turned on by the ECU and it takes the black/red lead from the pump to ground. You either have a short to ground on that lead or the driver in the ECU is shorted to ground would be my guess. You can disconnect the ground side of the pump from the ECU and use a continuous duty relay that takes the ground lead to ground when the ignition switch is turned on as a fix.

I tried with a relay and it was the same. It was the fuelpump chassi that was grounded to the pump bracket.
Now im gonna try the standard wirering and se if it works thru Ecu.
