Props won't survive running real high X.

Can show you a table full of destroyed props running high X.

Prototype props exist that can handle it but are very costly.

Jim Hering and Dave DeWald both have 15 in dia. wheels that will live running them high. Nobody runs a gear case higher then Adam and he cruises at over 110 for 25+ mile stretches. Scott runs his brackets as high as possible w/o the use of remote pick-ups and we have only broken props in the hairpin turns of a race course "two hering 5 blade over hubs" but never in any other conditions, never one of Dave's props and I doubt very much that Darren is ever going to be as dumb as we are on the race course when comes to charging a turn. As far as cost, I don't think that's a real issue when you look at the total picture of these projects. This statement has remained accurate since my grandfather first told me almost 40 years ago: "Cheap isn't good and good isn't cheap"-you get what you pay for---

    Hello Joe:

Well first off the motors on the DW are 400R Verado's not X-Cat Verados. They come with a 2 year factory warranty. The items you suggest will void the warranty and in my opinion are completely unnecessary and foolish.

Second, since you know Jim and Dave so well... ask them what a set of those prototype propellers cost? The ones for the 400R motors? Post up the prices when you get a chance.

I own several sets of Hering's and Mercury props. The price point between the two is substantial. I run my Mercury props all the time because they are an excellent all around prop. Note: The prototype for the Mercury OB Bravo style big hub vented props were tested on my boat. However, if you surface the Mercury Bravo Big hub propeller with a 400R it will not live.

The 400R Verado when jacked up high will start surfacing the propeller add to that long distances and blades will be lost. The prop might live if your putting around but if your banging the rev limiter at 7k and long distances.... your going to kill the blades.

Call Eric at SCB and he will also confirm breakage at high X dimension.

Lastly, after warranty is up do whatever you want.

It will be interesting to see what they decide to do. I would like to see the 130 benchmark be achieved.

Grant has done a LOT of testing with the 400R set up on a cat and has learned a ton. He knows the DW's as well as anyone and working with him on my build and talking with him, Gary B., and others I am confident the package will be fast and reliable.

Thanks for the info guys. My buddy considering one of these 28s is the friend I bought my 28 from. The 24 Skater w/ single 300X he bought just isn't enough for him, and he's looking at several options to get back into a larger boat. When I say "rough" conditions, I don't mean big swell, but nasty "washing-machine" type water that we get on the SF Bay. Coming back from Fleet Week this year I was "surviving" at about 50mph in my 30 - Rick Bowling was taking green water over the front of the sponsons in his 28 trying to get back the same day (his 37 Talon was down with it's second blown-up 1,350). I wouldn't even say I'm not thinking about this 28 for myself! I always take my 30 when I go to the bay/ocean, so my 28 is primarily used for the much smoother delta waterways that this DW28 would be perfect for. It would be so cool to take my motors and rig them on one of these new DW28s to see the true difference in speed between the DW and Skater. I bet my motors with a set of 36 Dewalds would get this DW28 close to 130!

Dan and Rick spoke to Doug at Miami - Dan is very interested in this boat. He said he should know more in about 30 days. Would be nice to see one of these out here on the West Coast........

Razor and Noli, I just sent some updated pictures to Dan. Wanted him to see them first. He can fill you guys in and you can then post them. Thanks we are getting very close. Doug and I both are really looking forward as to what this boat has to offer. The windshield is also done and being shipped from Florida today. Twisted is about to make some really hard pulls and we have the engine now ready for our Top Alcohol Hydro. Kebin Kinsley and I are making changes to the capsule to enlarge for bigger drivers. Thanks for being patient

Well , I just flew back from Texas ....

Ok , so I have a few spy photo's to look at ...

Walking past the front door ...

If ya step inside and do a walk around ...

I love the removable dash .... fit and finish work looks great

One off furniture , gotta be comfy ...

Leave the motocross goggles at home , wind is goin up and over ....

This boat is so well thought out . Really "State of the art" mix of pleasure and race boat ...
