What has happened with this boat project? It is too good a design to not be finished and tested.
JPEFROG I thought you might be picking up this project since RGR is gone.
Maybe it just takes awhile for all those involved to recover.

The project isn't dead for sure but there are complexities involved with Rick's passing. I will let everyone know when I see a clear path forward. Grant has Dan's boat as shown in the pictures above and I hope to make it over to his shop as things progress "holiday travel stuff seems to be eating up my life at the moment".

Hopefully, the first one will be finished and tested soon, with 400's or 400 ROS. Does anyone involved know how to purchase one, assuming successful testing, complete and ready to run?

It's hard enough to gut employee's to leave their cell phone's in their vehicle's and check them @ break time ....
Now you want them to make it part of their job ....
How does that work :
Turn the nut , one flat . One text to the house mouse .
One more flat on the nut , a picture for noli .
Turn the nut , one flat , make dinner plans .
Turn ... in your time card ...

Maybe it was just wishful thinking, but I thought this 28 might displace enough water to support 2 400's.
Some of the other fairly shallow tunnels sit very low in the water with 400's and stick their bow high in the air getting on plane. Other, very deep and wide 31-32's seem almost too big for the same 400's. It should be fairly straightforward with this hull to come in at 4000lb fully rigged. I guess we will have to wait for more builds to find out.

Based on the boats i have been on with 400's there is no way that thing will handle that in any kind of water without a center pod.
most of the bigger cats have been using ballast also in rough water.

So, does that mean that the added surface area of the center pod toward the stern adds enough displacement to support the 400's? I never really thought much about that, but it may be why the west coast builders can get away with mounting them on shorter hulls.

From what I know, yes. But after the passing of Rick, I have not heard anything more about the first boat. I have full knowledge of everything going on with Dan's 28, and that's about it at this point. Hopefully we all hear how the single runs when completed, but twin 300XSs are the perfect setup for a pleasure application on this boat imo.
