    evinrude 300 g2

In my quest for what and which way to go as far as power, the Evinrude g2 keeps popping up, I dont know if it has been dicussed but one option is to power a 28 Tuff Boat with twin Evinrude G2"s, there seEms to be some pro's like 5 years of warrenty, no outside steering rams, but I really would like to know if anyone has first hand knowlege about rigging these motors, what would be the down side if any?

Is the BRP gearcase as robust surfaced as a sporty? Would you run the motors high enough for it to matter? Are the additional gear ratio options of the sporty an advantage?

I can't see the advantage over a 300xs unless the G2 is significantly less expensive....

yes what is the price of the G2 300 compared to the 300xs? And what are the gear ratios available and max rpm of the 300? Also can the rpm be upped?

The rigging is ugly, raceboats are supposed to have an appearence of raw mechanical machinery

Gordon Montague (sp) at Monty Racing would be the best guy to ask about BRP possibilities.

Tuff has one on a 21 it has been in the high 80s with stock case on the rev limiter. They need to stop messing around and put a 36 on it.

the boat i was in went 90mph, Thats with a 250 , and excellerated like a dragster, but like I thought the weak link in those g2's is the power steering, the steering has a small PLASTIC gear which drives something, and failed on that motor, so now what?, I was always convinced that it needed outside mounted steering, so now I wait for some company to design all the componants for such a system.

It's not hard to make a wing plate. Or a stainless gear.

If you can't see the difference in the totally redesigned 2 stroke block and intake set up of the G2 then you are not looking or don't know what your looking at.. It is a marvel of engineering.
