Roark is one smart guy and the Carpenters were a great asset to him. Made the trip to Hendersonville to pick up four new boats over the years and there was always something new in the works or laid out on paper.

I wonder what ever happened to that 22' plug he had almost finished when he sold off the other STV stuff and the rights to it. Several years later he still had it. I hope it didn't get trashed. It was a cool lookin' boat.

I was in that shop a few times talking with Roark and checking out the goods. Saw the SRV mold out back as well.

Lots of compound curves and intricate change's of direction. True thought and craftsmanship went into making this beautiful and rigid piece ... wow

I remember how proud he was of that thing. He was so worried that it was going to be too much money for his customers and was dealing with guys not wanting to pay for the 19 footers with a single at the time. I told him that I would buy one then and I will say that I would buy one now. It was a bigger hull with a euro cockpit and looked so perfectly proportioned. The other real concern that he had was the speed potential with twins and how far guys were pushing the small boats at that time (Quote from Roark)-"Joe I didn't make these to go over a hundred"-that was in 94' when I was picking up my new Euro. In 96' when I got a new river rocket, he was really concerned about how fast guys were running and issue of product liability. He was also heavy into the little cars with his son and just taking on other interest. It sure was fun to sit at dinner with him and Rusty and listen to the stories--dam, I am getting old that's been 25 years ago-
