This guy is another, of many, claims to fame...that only you, can brag about... https://youtu.be/3IYjYxH1C98 Damn hell Fuji, I didn't know that was on You Tube, and I know Jeff didn't. Yes, it makes me very proud. He also runs an immaculate 1988 Checkmate Starflite/ Merc 200 carby that hasn't got a mark on it, and now the third generation Bergen, Alexander Jeffrey, will soon be into boating - he's 16 months now and already loves boats! Here he is at Tomahawk AOMCI last August in my Checkmate. Check out that T-shirt! Click image for larger version.

I have a question for Lil Abner and or Gene.
i remember Dave Craig having a Wood Switzer and racing it in the early 60s.
it was a beautiful boat and was the first one I ever saw. Soon he sold that one to a guy name Reeves (sp?) Schmidts and got a smaller one with a Vee bow. Reeves drove the boat in a few races over the next few years, but was not a serious racer.
i believe he raced in the GCM but never finished too high.
what the heck ever happened to the boat and him?

The vee front boat I bought from Mercury in 1970. Ran 1250 BP's on it until I almost blew it over in 1971. It was sold to some North adakota ANG pilots who did blow it over. Boat was scrapped in the Cass County. ND landfill in 1973.

Wow, that's too bad getting scrapped like that.
i can see where it might blow over compared to the full wing Switzers. it was really fast but the wings seems to travel completely level in a vertical motion. The Vee had more nose lift due to its design. Dave really liked it but I like the looks of the other Switzers a little more.

I think his name was Rees.
i know he ended up working on George's Cessna 180. My dad and went to Opa Loca.airport and flew it to see if we wanted to buy it. Rees had painted it and it had a least 500 runs in the paint and the windows had tons of paint on them as well.
Because of the damage he did to the plane, we decided not to buy it. As we walked away I noticed a really nice Bonanza. Within an hour my dad bought it and was on his way back to Tamiami airport. Never heard from him or the Switzer ever again.

I went to high school with his step son. He talked a lot about that Switzer but I only saw it run a couple of times. He was not competitive.
