They have a plug hole repair kit that involves drilling out and installing an insert. Happens when you only have 3 threads holding a plug in. Ford engineers should be ashamed for this stupid design.

I Had It Happen Twice. Ford Won't Admit It Was A Issue With That Motor BUT, Makes A Repair Kit For It... Next Generation Broke The Plugs Off In The Head And They Sell The Extractor For Those To! Damn Shame, Mine Was A 2001 And I Loved The Truck! Think It Had 109000 On It The 1st Time And 120000+ The 2nd Time. My 99' Model With The 4.6 Motor Had 358000 When I Traded It In And Never Had Any Problems!

Hook a hose the that plug hole, run it to a compressor tank and get a train horn.... more fun that way.....

There is a heli coil kit, best way to go. Just make sure you keep as much out of the cylinder as possible as stated above, greased tap, run it before installing plug.....
