    Electric / Hydraulic brakes

Has anyone converted their trailer brakes to the electric powered hydraulic brake actuator systems?
I have a little less then 10,000 pound trailer load with surge brakes now. Both axles have disc brakes and stopping power is great.
Backing up is a pain as I have to do a mechanical lock out of the surge actuator. If I don't do the lock out for backing up trailer will lock up and not move. Those four disc brakes won't budge!
The electric solenoid lock doesn't work well enough and sometimes still allows the brakes to lock up when backing up.
Going to cost at least $1,000.00 to convert to the electric powered hydraulic so want to be sure it's the right way to go.
Would like some feedback if anyone is running this type of set up.

Lots of guys with larger boat/trailers say it's the best way to go. Lots of discussion over the years on OSO. Link is to one of the recent threads on the topic.

I have Tiedown reverse solenoid on my dual ale, dual disc brake trailer and have no issues backing up. Are you sure yours is working?
