Mid Section Bungees
Where can you get those bungees/rubber straps that the guys who race use on OB's? I believe they strap the mid-section for re-entry. Not sure what they are made of, or where you can buy them.
Any help appreciated

West Marine or Ebay.
3/8" thick min. 1/2" is ideal.
Rubber with weather proof material coating.

I believe the proper name is shock cord. We used to use it in OPC to pull the lower unit against a thrust block (no power trim) that set the angle of the lower unit. Also used it on cable-and-pulley steering to counter the torque that a surfacing prop put on the steering. At idle, yo had to fight the wheel to drive straight, but at speed the steering was neutral.

We used to use " bell hose" avaliable at any NAPA.....old school gas stations, when you would drive over it and ring the bell!

Yes, they pull the midsection in and take up all the play from the clearances in the pins and bushings. Very effective in rough water on and off the throttles. Keeps everything preloaded so the engine can't move around as much.

Shock cord is the correct item you want. If you can get it with a natural rubber core as opposed to and epdm core it should have more tension to it. I am a manufacturers rep for a cordage company so if you would like to buy a truck load of shock cord I can get you a really good price!
