They say that the average person's interest in a "hobby" peaks at around five years ..
Lifer's are the minority ...
As far as "racers" go , I've seen some very talented people dominate their chosen venue within a year .. never count anyone out ..

It's all what you make it as with any interest in life . Try to be positive and enjoy the people around you despite their differences in enthusiasm or product . Or , you can live in the clouded vision of what was the past and hate everyone that came after you peaked your interest . Life changes , people change . Roll with it or just STFU !! I enjoy the site as I do many other boating sites and try to have fun .
If you can't have fun anymore , just leave . On to the St Johns River run and Silver Glen ." The Fleet of Old Boats "

Tom, AMEN!!!
Some just continue to live in the past, will never grow in their thinking or learn to live on!
The other funny thing is they also love to blame the site when someone disagrees with their close minded thinking.

this interest is timeless, if your reference to history begins in the 60's. to many of the so called "mellenials I'm sorry, you guys just weren't around back in the the day that this sport went into absolute madness. I'm sure you think you are the only generation to be capable of this, but, guess what. NOT. this sport has actually shrunk over the years, We need your help to re-vive it !!!
most overnite successes usually take at least 10 years

Thank you everybody, we've been here a very long time but hopefully we'll be here for a long time to come. I actually have some very cool upgrades coming this summer!
And more giveaways of course!
Your support means a tremendous amount to me, and is what always motivates me to make S&F the best it can be.

Charlie, you are so right!
Thank you so much . Not only for your long time membership but for all you do for everyone here.
Tom and Tony, I appreciate your words so much. You've been with us since the very beginning and that just means the world to me. You and others continue to make S&F what it is, and the very core of the site has not changed, thanks to all of you. Growing up around the smell of two-stroke smoke gets into your blood. In 2014 I was so busy with computer work that I almost forgot the effect it has on me, that is until I went to the Suwannee and rode in Mark and Janna's Hydrostream. It was a revelation to me. Almost like an old love returning. It made me so happy and hyper that I just had a smile the entire time. I loved it so much, and I'm so grateful to all of you.
Pete, you are just awesome. You've added so much life to S&F in so many ways. You are like the S&F mayor! Thank you my friend, fo everything!
The original Hydrostream board! Where it all began. S&F was actually the very first forum to use VBulletin. Back then, message boards were a new thing and they were using Ultimate Bulletin Board. When I began S&F, I was in college and I could not afford the license fee for UBB, so my friend and server admin, Tim Wall, suggested we try a then-new forum software called VBulletin. It was still in its original beta, and extremely buggy, but it was free. And here we are today, but a lot more is coming!
