Lower Unit
A friend broke his prop shaft on his lower unit and we replaced it with a carrier reverse gear and prop shaft that we had and when I torque the carrier nut the unit gets tight. Drive shaft and forward gear shems the same. What is going on?

it must be the same style gears for one you removed forward gear shims to replace proshaft why?? or are you saying you left them the same what was the reason fro changing other parts for just propshaft broke

did you add a 1 1/4 diameter shaft and carrier in a coned 200 case by chance

Looks like the other way around a fishing shaft and carrier to the high performance pinion and forward gear. Accept now I need the thick (1/4") reverse gear shim. How can I get one of these? Pro Marine?
