    Merc EFI Bridgeport nitrous kit

Hi guys, is Nitrox still going? Cant seem to get onto website. Want to get a nitrous kit for my Bridgeport, have a guy in Drag Boat club with a BBC jet boat that I cant quite catch. Getting 90mph out of it now, nitrous should help!

What type of boat, what prop are you running? What's the compression? how many RPM's are you pulling with the prop that's on it now? You can put tighter heads on it, you can spin it higher for more power.

I sure hope you're not trying to drag race with a 26 pitch Chopper.

24 tuned Yamaha or ET for 1/4 mile, or 22 for 800 foot.

No no use in giving the guy a head start every time.

What is the compression? 120 psi or 150 psi? 7,000 RPM or 71 or 72 what exactly is it pulling?? buzz that to 78 or higher. Is there a jack plate on it? That short of a hull, is it easy to fly? or does the hull have a hook being a ski boat? If it is easy to fly try a cleaver 24P or 22P be careful the boat will get real flighty with it thoe.

150psi comp. 7500rpm with 24 ET Lightning but Chopper carried boat better & getting another 15mph with 26 labbed chopper. 3inch set back manual jackplate setup with nosecone level with pad. Have tried cleaver before but will not sit on pad. Boat seems fastest with chopper style. Has CCMS drag reed & offshore mid with CLE lower. I know offshore mid heavy but I absolutely love the sound of it!

Sounds like a good set up and in the ball park, how high it the prop shaft compared to your bottom pad on the boat? is your labbed chopper a big ear or a small ear? and what dia? and at what speed does the boat start to fly at or pop up on the pad? and are you using a lot of trim to keep the nose up?
I had a 16ft with a modded 175 evenrude, had a steppen jack with a hydraulic jack plate that was together about 6 in. and by myself I could do 85 87 but with two 80 to 82 and three 76 to 78 on a good day. But when the jack started to leak (land and sea) and couldn't get parts, I replaced it with a 12 in set back ( got a super deal on it) because I had long enough cables, I was in the 90's hitting the rev limiter just barely but could do 87 with three on board. got up and flew sooner and with little to no trim or running level with the motor. the motor was a lot higher on (because there was more set back) the boat but I wasn't dragging the gearcase threw the water with a nose down attitude, and I think that's where all the speed came from. It ran a smaller wetting surface and changed the C of G on the boat. The down side was when parked at the dock for a week I would have to leave it with a full tank, and when sitting the nose was up higher about two inches. It really made a difference on that boat, but what impressed me most is it could carry two more people at the same speed that I use to do when I was by myself in the boat and near empty of fuel.
