    Mercury diagnostic tool / 1999 promax 300cl

    I have a 1999 mercury promax 300CL and a 2005 Mariner 115hp (4cyl w/carbs)

I would like to buy a diagnostic tool that wil fit my motors but i do not know what to look for.

wich one will take my motors? Software, cables etc..

Wil i be able to read the hours on my motors?

I do know how to use a diagnostic tool for my cars but i have never done it on an outboard.

    Thanks.

Is this like a "universal" ddt that will take baically all models? And the mercury/quicksilver ddt will need different software cartrideges for the various models?

    thanks!
