If it was me, I would first drop the lower unit and check the seals on the inner lower exhaust housing. The seals are kind of a pain to keep in place when you install a lower and they could have gotten pinched. If that's not it then your on to adapter plate and base gaskets. Are you getting a lot of black sludge through the prop?

Parker looks like a bad powerhead base gasket. Check the pan base and remove the trim under the pan and check there. But something caused the idle circuit to go rich also. You wanted to clean those carbs anyway didn't ya! Seams like I do that to all my new rigs. If I lived closer I would give ya a hand I know those puppys pretty good now. Gary

Sometimes people forget to put that housing back in too..... the exhaust is running up the housing and dumping out by the upper mounts......

That part is between the lower unit and tuner, just drop the lower unit and see if it is there and if the two rubber seals are there/intact/in place

Didn't think of that, but Racer brings up a good point. Bad lower main seal would allow gas/oil to blow down into the outer housing. If you don't see sludge coming through the prop hub, it's probably not the base gasket. Drilling holes won't cure it.
