I have a few SRX props never heard of crx?
When I was racing Mod VP I talked to Allen Stroker and he told me he ran low timing , compared to some, of course he added compression .

Can't upload the one pic I have. trying to get some knowledge about it in the mean time.

Second Effort has not been in business for years. When someone says(Overhauled By certified mechanic) I worry. (Has not been run since rebuild) They don't even know if it runs! ( Everything is brand new in motor) How much was this thing? (short shaft) would be 15"or so. (Brand new lowerunit) ??? 31 degree timing?? I would be worried because someone has no Idea what they are talking about.

All good info...well??? I guess I have rolled the dice for $2250.00 You get what you pay for, maybe I bought 2 props? and a hot foot. Tough to chase this fast boat thing on a tight budget but I'm getting older and this has been a dream of mine for a long time. it's try to do it with what I have or likely never do it. Maybe I'll get lucky... I'll keep everyone posted

That's been for sale for quite awhile, if my memory serves me right. Good luck for that price could be a bargain.

I'm the one who has no idea what he is talking about that's why I'm asking questions. Thought this would be a place to get answers but it would appear like this is fishing, no one really wants to share any real info or most of you on here know as little as I do about this motor. I pretty much know all the things that have been said. Have received 0 answers to my original questions like, original starting horse power, liters, what Team Second Effort did to make it a "Second Effort, where to find manuals, stuff like that. Just got a bunch of negative BS for the most part...a few have tried and that is appreciated... but come on this is where all the real go fast guys hang out so...how about some real info that will help me, or is that not what this site is about?

The issue is nobody knows what a 240hp 2E engine is, I dont remember there being one in an brochure I ever looked at.
Its not hard to make that much extra HP and plenty of people here know all about that.
Once you get it and do some investigation so you can explain what it is you will get plenty of information from this site.
There have been plenty before you with "full on racing engines" that only have a lightweight cowl, solid mounts and the airbox removed and thats it.

Most of the "Second Effort" motors we've seen were stickers.

I had a "Limited Edition 3.0 Finger Port" that was stickers from the OMC factory.

You'd have to pull the heads and look at/measure the ports to really see what you have.
How much compression does it have? Have you checked?
A stock 225 of that era will have a 100 - 110 psi, if it is a 225HO or 250 (same motors) as the stickers imply, it will have 120 - 125.
A stock 225 HO made 254 HP's at the crank.

On top of this, that cowling design didn't even come out until after Second Effort was closed down.

If the seller/builder told you 31* of timing, he has no clue. Period.
Based on above, I'd be very leery of running it as is.
What fuel did he spec for you?
Know how long a 2 stroke will run on inferior fuel?? I can tell you from experience you can time it w/a second hand.

Lots of car guys think they can build 2 strokes since there's less parts. Most fail.
Hard to tell what you have but based n the info given to you by the seller/builder, I'd be very nervous.

You go hammer it as is and pop it, then where you gonna go?

    Good luck.

I know nothing of the 2nd effort motors. But, you are getting very good info in the way of warnings that further investigation will be needed. When dealing with the un-known, you have two choices. Crank it and go for it. Or have some competent tech go over it and check it out. Compression check is easy and will tell a lot about the motor. 110#'s and it is not very hi po. Higher compression will mean a real go fast motor where special fuel and oil ratios will be needed. I have never heard of any 2 stroke running 31* timing. And living that is.....

You should've posted a photo from the beginning, you would've gotten help alot quicker. Check the compression, set the timing right (18* is factory, even less if it has higher compression).
