1995 Mercury200 EFI How to go Keyless

My ignition switch went out, so I would like to setup a toggle switch to take care of the RUN functions and a Push Button for the Start. Ideas??

So far I know the Red Outer Wire needs to be attached to the Purples to get the fuel pump going. Lost from there. Thanks guys.

It's double-pole, double-throw but "up" is momentary (start) that returns to center when you release it... then slap the cover down to turn it off. It stays in the down (off) or center (run) position. Mine is carb'd with an electric pump so you're connections will be a little different.

The best way is with a double pole, single throw switch with six terminals..... there are two circuits on this switch with three terminals each. the middle terminals are the common for each circuit.Put the red on one center terminal and the black on the other center terminal. With the switch in the off position, use an ohm meter to find continuity between the black wire terminal and one of the free terminals on the same circuit, usually it's on the same side the toggle is resting. Hook the black/yellow wire to that terminal.....this is your ignition kill circuit. Then take the purple wire and hook it to the opposite end on the other circuit. For the start circuit, use a push button switch, bring a wire from the red terminal on the toggle switch and hook it to one side of the push button switch and take the yellow/red wire to the other terminal on the push button switch....... there you go..... with this setup, you can crank the engine with the push button switch while the ignition is shut off so you can do compression tests without spark.... If you don't want it to crank with the ignition off, instead of hooking the push button to the red wire, hook ir to the purple side at the toggle switch.

David, Good looking switch. I want a separate push button.

Flabum, love the idea of a engine button to crank with for testing. I will go mark all the wires today and find some switches out in the shop. Keep ya posted.

The diagram shows it where it will only crank with the ignition on, if ya want it to crank with ignition off or on, take the purple from the push button off the toggle purple and put it with the red.

    Flabum,
I definitely want to crank it for maintenance. Thanks again for the pointers.

What are your thoughts on a push button choke?

Got her done. Hooked it up per the pic you sent and it works great. Starter functions without switch being in "Run" position for testing purposes. Taking it out to the lake once the weather gets better to give it the final test. Next project is to move the filter to place it prior to the low press filter and delete the stock fuel water separator.
