Lookin good Gary... When you told me that you were starting it this late, I was surprised. Mine was a much bigger pain in the a$$ and took longer than I ever could have imagined!! But you're more than capable of pulling it off.

Gary, just like your foot throttle project you are not afraid to jump in and do things the right way the first time. I admire that. You are in the home stretch now for sure on the transom!

Really didn't have much choice on timing, weather was so bad around here just had to wait it out. Start laying glass this week.
I'm one of those believers in, "Anything worth doing is worth doing right". This project is one that deserves all the time and materials to do exactly that "Make it right the first time". Get'n close now. will start lay'n some glass this week.
Its time and materials well spent to doing it right first time out, this is one job I don't want to have issues with down the road.
Greatly appreciate the moral support, thank you. 2" transom is probably a little on the over kill side as the stock one was 1 1/2", but I'll never have to worry about what a 525 pound motor hanging off a 16" set back is doing to my transom in the rough slop at high speeds. "Can we say piece of mind".......

This Thursday is the day I start to do some glass work. Will cut most of the glass in a pieces for tabbing, number the pieces as to where they'll go based on a Glassing Map, "like color by number situation". This will reduce the time spent having to climb in and out of the boat for glass pieces and wetting, they'll already be cut, in the boat on a work platform with the resin and rollers so it's just a matter of following the numbers. Will also start to make a template for the Knee's ( 3/4" AB Marine Grade Plywood) as they'll be totally different than the original 2 piece junk set up I cut out. New Knee's will be single piece with a larger surface area, perfect surfaces for mounting items.
Since I'm doing all this messy work at my buddies shop (Thank you Glenn for all you've done and given, it's truly appreciated and I'm forever grateful), I'm really looking forward to getting the boat back home to start the rewiring project. That will give me a sense of urgency to "GET-R-DONE", it's time to get wet.......
Additional pics to follow.................

Glass work gets pushed out to Saturday, got a little ahead of myself. Worked on making up the Knee template Thursday and still need to cut Fiberglass Friday. I wanted to make the Knee's much larger than the original ones and out of a single piece of 3/4" Marine Grade AB Plywood. Here is the basic shape of the Knee. Still need to transfer pattern to Plywood and cut out. There will be some changes to this shape before it goes in like a nice radius on the FWD top corner and routing all the exposed top edges to full radius before the glass gets applied. Red outline is the basic shape of the Knee. Placement of the Knee's will be based on the mod'd fuel tank which went from a 40 gal to a 60 gal capacity. "60 Gallon's" you say , that doesn't mean I'll be carrying 60 all the time, only when it's needed for a long day on the water, we all know how thirsty 300x's are....... Tank mounts are still to be designed & welded to the tank based on the final Knee shape.

Fuel tank
I've been looking at all the work you're putting on this boat, it looks great
I'm very interested in the fuel tank mod, I just purchased a 99 and fuel tank I was told was 25gals, with my2.5 Merc 280 it does not last long.
I would like to increase capacity to 40 gals or more, like you said it doesn't have to be full.
we do some long river runs and it would be better than carrying 2 5gal cans of fuel
keep us informed.
Great work, keep it up!

Pics of the Knees (rough cut, still need to be radius'd w/a router & drill rigging holes)
This is the "TABBING" map and all the tabbing material pre-cut. Tabbing in lengths of 12", 6" & 4". Cutting full sized fiberglass this morning for transom at +0" (actual size), then a + 1", + 4", + 6" sizes. More pics to follow after today's session.
