Love the Jaws 2 Cameo pic. Do you have the 81 Catalog? If you need them, I have the 1980 and the 82, but not 81... One of my 140s is an 81 sport and I'm trying to get a good pic of the decals so I can have them reproduced.

I do have them - I will post the 1981 up next .

I agree, the Jaws photo is awesome. The '79 catalog really is awesome.

That is my all time favorite color scheme for the Rudes (besides the XP schemes). We had the dark blue 140 and I remember Daddy complaining about how he needed a Kuwaiti tanker to follow us along.

    Thanks for sharing Greg.

Awesome Greg, thanks! The Evinrude and Johnson cowls have always seemed to reflect the style of whatever era they were manufactured in. It's really fascinating to look back through the brochures, because you can almost get the feeling of the particular era. Pea green and white with orange trim is ugly as sin, but it's still retro cool for guys who grew up in those days. At least us 80s people had better taste with these cowlings and the "Back to the future" Seahorse cowls later on

I want one of each model, definitely one of the best outboards schemes and they were very good engines mechanically speaking..

Those were the outboards that were on the water in my young years during my amazement for the sport, fishing and racing..

My first boat was a 16 Sidewinder Low Pro with the 79 140 Evinrude. Such an awesome combo you wouldn't even consider different power for that package.

That's funny as my first was a Glastron GT160 with a 79 115 when I was 10. My kid brother and I could never catch the Sidewinders with the 140s!

Hey Billy, how have you been?

What year was your V8 - was it an '87?

Also, the print process for these catalogs back then was a very low-resolution and limited-color process, so there was a lot of touch-up work performed. If you look closely, you'll see where engine logos were painted on to increase visibility. This was common throughout the catalogs from the 1950s, all the way to the late 80s.
