Got your pm. They are in a box taped up and ready to go. A friend told me once that "favors are free".I'll get the box on the way tomorrow. Don't worry, it will come back to me. At least that's what I believe.

You can still use the relays too..... there are two black wires feeding each relay, one is heavy gauge, the other is lighter gauge, just cut the heavy gauge black wires and hook green to green and blue to blue at the relay from the trim motor....... and of course the black wire from the motor to a clean engine ground.....

You can definitely make relays and or solenoids do whatever you want them to. The beauty of electricity is something to behold.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but is it possible to do the same thing in the opposite direction with a 3 wire setup on a 2 wire motor with solenoids and without relays and run 24v to it lol??? Logic tells me no way but would love to bypass the reverse polarity bs...........

I think i explained that poorly...I have a two wire setup and a two wire motor with relays to reverse the polarity....what i would like to do is convert the relays to solenoids and run 24v to them as I highly speculate the relays and/or fuses will burn down very shortly if I run 24v through them....I am no electrician but I don't see doing that without relays on a two wire motor, please advise

I'm kind of tied up right now and I'm certainly no electrian, but, the amount of voltage doesn't matter nearly as much as the amperage. I would venture to say that you won't really increase your amperage all that much by doubling your voltage. If you have an amp meter you could always do a before and after reading. If it's only a 10 to 15 percent increase in amps, let it ride. In many cases a higher voltage will lessen the amp draw. However you will be asking the motor to do more work.

Gotcha.....but how does one dump the relay system altogether and convert to solenoids? I don't see how that could work with a RP motor....reply whenever you have time as the boat is still in storage lol

I may not be the guy to answer this, I get by when I need to. In short, the reason the 2 wire relays work is because they have multiple normally open and normally closed circuits. The solenoids are a single pole, normally open circuit. So, if I had to do it, I would probably source a double pole solenoid of the correct amperage rating and wire accordingly. Since, theoretically, the up and down commands cannot happen at the same time, you would use one double pole solenoid wired for up with the coil activated from the blue wire and one double pole solenoid wired for down with the coil activated from the green wire. Make sense?

The relays will work but you have to keep the coil side 12 volts, the contacts can handle the 24 no problem, plus with 24 volts, the amp will probably be less.

Good call Bum. I did not say so, but the same goes for the solenoids. If they are 12 volt coils, keep the control voltage 12 volts.

Double the voltage across the saame resistance equals half the amperage. I think.
