2.5 water pressure issue??

2.5 200 merc with no thermostats or restrictors , no popet valve, one piece plate. I have both heads dumping water out of separate 3/8 hoses. The port head pumps water great at idle, the starboard side is very weak. Pressure at idle around 2-3psi. When I bring rpms up to 1500-2g both hoses dump water fine. My WOT psi is around 19psi. So I'm wondering Why would the starboard side be weak on pressure at idle and port side be fine? Should I put a restrictor in the port thermostat housing to help slow down the flow and increase flow on the other side? My head temp reads under 120 on the gauge as well. Any help would be great. Run it.

You can't make it piss equal on both sides because the cooling system is not the same. The starboard water is tryin to figure out where it's going, it's all confused. It's sayin "we're trying to get out this big ole poppet cavity but there ain't nowhere to go when we get there" (or something like that).

You must have the "good" one piece plate because your pressures and temps are fine. Usually without stats you can't make duke for pressure and the motor is ice cold. It sounds pretty well balanced right now.

what do you think about taking the port head and connecting it to the starboard head and dumping from there? I'm just a little iffy on that one cylinder not getting enough water at an idle.

Sure, anytime you reduce output capacity the pressure will increase. But if you've got 2-3 psi the block is pretty full (assuming your gauge fitting is at the top of the block). Many times that combo will have zero psi at idle. Have you got diverters in it?

I believe that there are diverters in it bit I'm not 100% sure. I will be pulling the heads in the next or so to inspect block. If theres no diverters think I should add some? I'll prob need a diagram on where to put them as well
