Very rare fish for us up here in the north, thought to be gone by MNR . I have had one on , and released over 30 years ago. Nothing since.

Yep, paddlefish, they make the spring run up the rivers to spawn. Caught this one below a lock and dam on the Arkansas river

Thoes are cool fish. Here in Missouri its a short season for them and must be minimum 24" from the eye to the fork of the tail to keep. Iv only caught 1 . The Asian carp are really dominating the same habitat as spoonbill in the Missouri and Mississippi.
Great catch.

Asian carp are a problem, what's the largest predator fish left in those rivers down that way that eat small Asian carp. In the norther rivers that have Musky the carp seem to be held back , so it looked a few years ago. Bring back the Alligator gar pike. Chigago has put up a barrier to stop them from getting into Michigan from the upper Miss. What a mess.

You keep any size you want in Oklahoma, but only keep one per day with a season limit of 2. You can catch all you want untill you put one on the stringer, then your done, no culling. Whats funny is you cant keep any on Monday or Friday.

Since they are filter feeders, are they caught by snagging? We have them here, but are protected.
